"Hibernative Potential" Is an outdoor pollinator habitat sculpture inspired by the womb like life-giving energy inherent in cycles of rest. What appears as inactivity and dormancy in nature is a sacred period of transformation, essential for life's abundance to emerge. The piece’s black cut-out forms celebrate the fractal essence of nature, interacting with its micro-ecosystem. Moving beyond art for just humans, the piece integrates into the micro ecosystem by incorporating a pollinator habitat embedded with hollow bamboo and other plant reed cutouts, it provides winter shelter for solitary bees and beneficial garden insects, integrating art with ecological function. It is made from off-cut sustainable Richlite (100% recycled paper and resin), balsa wood, and bamboo harvested from garden friends in Long Island.
